The Isle of Raasay Distillery has unveiled a brand-new immersive experience that gives whisky lovers a rare behind-the-scenes adventure on Scotland’s rugged Hebridean shores. Nestled on the tiny island of Raasay, just a short ferry ride from Skye, the distillery is inviting visitors to live like a distiller for two full days; an opportunity usually reserved only for the production team. 
This carefully crafted distillery experience lets guests roll up their sleeves and dive deep into the heart of whisky-making. Participants take part in every key stage of production: from milling and mashing barley to charging the stills, guided by Raasay’s expert craftsmen. Over the course of the programme, you’ll also learn to make spirit cuts, nose and assess new make spirit and handle cask work, which includes filling, fixing and learning the secrets of maturation. 
As the two days unfold, there’s time to savour the island’s spectacular scenery, such as its windswept hillsides and views across to the Cuillin on Skye, alongside the craft of whisky itself. Dinner is paired with whisky tastings, and the finale lets guests bottle and take home a personalised Raasay whisky as a tangible memento of their hands-on journey. 
This launch comes as Raasay continues to build momentum as one of Scotland’s most exciting whisky destinations. The distillery, which opened in 2017 and is the first legal whisky producer on the island, has already earned significant accolades and draws visitors from across the world. 
The experience sits alongside Raasay’s other hospitality offerings, including the Borodale House hotel and Na Bothain, a set of stylish bothy-inspired cabins that opened in autumn 2025. Together, they create a retreat where craft, landscape and culture intersect.
