Bruichladdich headline the third part of our recap of the 2022 Feis Ile releases. To celebrate the first in-person Feis Ile in three years, the team at Bruichladdich hosted their own Rock’ndaal music & whisky festival. Additionally, two brand new whiskies were released using the Rock’ndaal name.
Rock’ndaal 01.1 and 01.2 are special bottlings of containing different vintages of all three styles produced at the distillery: the unpeated Bruichladdich; heavily peated Port Charlotte; and the super-heavily peated Octomore. Only 2,500 of each has been released. Each bottle is crafted from different make up of whiskies as well as utilising different casks for maturing them, resulting in two utterly unique whiskies from this from this equally singular distillery.
Complimenting these releases are a trio of whiskies bottled by Dramfool. Firstly there are two, 20 Year Old Port Charlottes. One has been entirely matured in bourbon casks while the other was matured in Oloroso casks for four years. Both bottles have fewer than 200 bottles and will doubtlessly become prized collectables (though they are both stunning drams desperate to be enjoyed!).
Additionally Dramfool released an Octomore 12 Year Old. Distilled in 2008 and peated to an eye-and-mouth watering 167ppm, this whisky will no doubt appeal to the drinkers and collectors of this infamous Islay heavyweight.
Finally, Hunter Laing’s reputed Kinship series is bolstered by the addition of a 31 Year Old from the Bruichladdich distillery.
