The Glasgow Distillery is set to open its doors to public visitors for the first time. Guests are invited to a unique tour and tasting experience that offers an insight into the popular brand’s production process and samples of their award winning spirits.
Hosted by a member of the distillery’s team of experts, the tour will being in the tasting room before heading to the distillery’s lab. Here they will discover how new products are developed and cask finishes are selected for their small batch releases.
Glasgow Distillery is one of the few in Scotland to have an on-site cooper. Attendees will experience a live coopering demonstration, offering a first-hand look at the art of cask building and maintenance. This will be followed by an opportunity to sample cask strength whisky drawn straight from the cask.
Finally, the tour returns to the tasting room for a guided tasting of the Glasgow 1770 single malt range, as well as an exclusive tour-only dram and a selection of the distillery’s other spirits.
Mike Hayward, founder of The Glasgow Distillery, said: "The Glasgow Distillery Experience is not your average distillery tour. We will be welcoming visitors into the heart of our working distillery.
“From a behind-the-scenes look at our innovation lab to showcasing the expertise of our on site cooper, this experience offers a rare glimpse into every stage of our spirit-making process. It’s a chance for guests to meet our team, understand the passion behind what we do, and enjoy our spirits in the place they’re made.
“Visitors will also have access to our new tours-only bottlings - a revolving door of super exclusive cask samples. The first of these is a 7-year-old, peated single malt, initially matured in virgin American white oak before an extended secondary maturation within a fresh Oloroso Sherry hogshead.”
The Glasgow Distillery Company was founded in 2012, and when the distillery opened they became the first independent single malt producer in the city in over 100 years. Their award winning range of spirits includes the Glasgow 1770 whiskies, the Malt Riot blended malt, Makar Gin, Banditti Club Rum, and G52 Botanical Vodka.
Production at the distillery started in 2015 and they recently marked their ten year anniversary with their first ten year old single malt.
Priced at £45, Glasgow Distillery’s new tour experiences will launch from 23rd July on selected weekdays. Tickets can be booked via the distillery’s website.
